I highly recommend that you do not go for this mouthpiece and use it for everyday playing situations, it is a lead mouthpiece built for work on the notes from high G (g above staff) to double high C. If you get used to doing a typical routine with a mouthpiece like that, you will gradually lose strength/skill

I forgot who said it but to quote

"If you want to be an above average player, use an average mouthpiece"

I've never met a trumpet player who thinks lead mouthpieces are good for all around use/development

I am sorry, but that is just not true.

It is a smaller mouthpiece than some others, but it is NOT a lead mouthpiece!

What IS a lead mouthpiece?

And what is what I use?

I played a Jet Tone Bill Chase for over twenty years (Schilke equivalent is a 6A4a) and the GR mouthpiece I have now is basically a Bill Chase reverse engineered.

I play the whole horn...in performance, from the low F#s and Gs in Berigan and James charts up to high Gs.

I have ZERO loss in strength and skills and play the fourth set of the night as strong as I play the first set.

I think you need to read Jens' thread on mouthpieces where he suggests to use the smallest mouthpiece you can handle. (But then again Jens is only one of the top pros in the world)

see link here http://www.trumpetmaster.com/vb/f136...ces-48007.html (Jens Lindemann on Mouthpieces)

Re: WTB: Schilke gold plated mpc

Lead Mouthpiece= Shallow?

Thats what im used to hearing them described as. Many of the trumpet players i have spoken to (primarily composed of U of M music doctorates) tell me that playing with shallow/easier to play higher note mouthpieces gradually kills the student. They say that students will often get lazy with their equipment and descend practice time being content with what they have recently gained.

But I am not a master of this, and if i was found using a shallow mouthpiece for etudes/studies my tutor would kill me.

Solar Bell, I compliment your signature! Bravo!

Re: WTB: Schilke gold plated mpc

I hate eBay. I could never trust them. Some, but not all.
Mouthpiece express is too expensive...

I use a weird mouthpiece now. A photo of one is in my album. Take a look. Its a holton. Unkown. I wish I knew what size it was.
Plus, no matter how much I try and practice, I can never hit above the high D.

I have probably bought 100 mouthpieces of ebay, and ALL of them was delivered home to my mail box....shouldn't be a problem for you either..
