![]() | WTT/WTB Conn Short Shank Precision Cornet M.P. Hello to All. I just recently won off E-Bay, a Nice (I Hope) 1942 Silver plated 36A Conn Concert Grand Cornet. The #5 Conn precision mouthpiece coming with it, is the long shank model. These 36A Cornets take the Conn precision short shank m.p. I would like to buy a short shank model in very good condition,or trade any of the new or very good condition Cornet pieces, I have for sale on this site. Have some older vintage Trumpet mouthpieces also. I would prefer the Conn precision m.p. in a #5,or #4 or in any other size with the med. rim instead of the wide rim. All of the Conn Precision Short shank/long shank m.p's were made in sizes #1-6 or 1-5 sizes. One with a wide rim,one with a med. rim. Cups and bores and rim sizes remained the same. Any help will be greatly appreciated, sale or trade. Thank you. |

![]() | Re: WTT/WTB Conn Short Shank Precision Cornet M.P. Hi, I regret I can;t help with your unicorn hunt but I would offer a suggestion. Try one of Flip Oakes' vintage cornet mouthpieces. Dead ringer for the Conn short shank with modern technology. Fits my 80A fine. Just a thought. Cheers, Brian

![]() | Re: WTT/WTB Conn Short Shank Precision Cornet M.P. Thanks Brian for this info. Will check his mouthpieces out. I have had a Conn 36A before and used a Stork short shank m.p.,it seemed to work fine. In the Storks, you can get a rim size down to a Bach 7C with deep V cup. Finding a original m.p. will probably be a Unicorn hunt. |

![]() | Re: WTT/WTB Conn Short Shank Precision Cornet M.P. Thanks again Brian,I called Mr. Oakes, his short shank mouthpiece is in a Bach 10.5 size with the Bach Mount Vernon 10.5 Bach rim. Which I do like. This may solve my problem. Will still buy or trade for one of the Conn precision short shank mouthpieces if one is offered. Until Last edited by study888; 08-27-2009 at 05:00 PM. ![]() | Re: WTT/WTB Conn Short Shank Precision Cornet M.P. Emerson, just the same, send me three pics of your Conn #4 short shank mouthpiece. Would like to see inside rim and cup, throat view, and end of shank. I have four Bach long shank mouthpieces and a Del Staiger #38 cornet mouthpiece. A Conn #4 Trumpet mouthpiece,a Conn EZ tone Trumpet mouthpiece,a long shank #7 Vincent Bach New York Cornet m.p. thats needs replating, still plays. The other Bach sizes in cornet, long shank are a 9B,two 3C,5b, and 1 1/2C. My e-mail address is jyoungjr9@bellsouth.net . As I mentioned on other post, not crazy about a #4 conn rim/cup etc.,but would not hurt to have a original Conn short shank mouthpiece, for this Cornet I have, if I ever decide to resell it. Which may be a long time, these Conn 36A cornets are real nice players. Let me know if you get this message. Last edited by study888; 09-18-2009 at 01:46 AM. Reason: word correction |
